Planning your engagement session this spring and not sure what to wear? Don’t stress—this is one of the most common questions I get from my couples! I’ve photographed TONS of engagement sessions, and I’m here to make sure you feel comfortable, confident, and totally you in front of the camera.

Spring is such a dreamy time for photos—the light is soft, flowers are blooming, and there's a fresh, romantic feel in the air. Below, I’m sharing a few of my favorite outfit ideas that not only photograph beautifully, but also feel effortless and true to the season.

Outfit Inspiration for Spring Engagement Photos

1. A Flowy White Dress & Linen Button-Up

This classic combo is always a win—timeless, romantic, and perfect for beachy or breezy outdoor sessions. Think barefoot in the sand or strolling along the water at sunset. You can’t go wrong with soft, natural tones and light fabrics.

2. Soft Blue Midi Dress & Blue Suit

Coordinating shades of blue feel fresh and polished without being too formal. I love this look for garden sessions or downtown strolls. It creates that “elevated but still relaxed” vibe that works so well in spring.

3. Floral Sundress & Linen Blazer + Jeans

Looking for something a bit more casual? A pretty sundress paired with your partner’s jeans and a linen blazer strikes the perfect balance. It’s laid-back and stylish, and ideal for sessions in open fields, parks, or even your favorite café.

4. White Jeans & Flowy Blouse + Slacks & Button-Down

For a modern, minimal look, I love crisp white denim with a soft blouse. Your partner can wear tailored slacks and a layered button-down shirt for a coordinated but comfortable feel. This combo is great for downtown or architectural locations.

5. Elegant White Dress & Khakis

If you're leaning into something classic and clean, a more formal white dress with your partner in khakis is a beautiful option. It works just as well in the gardens as it does at an estate or beachside venue.

Helpful Tips When Choosing Your Outfits

Layer for the Weather

Spring can be unpredictable—sunshine one minute, chilly breeze the next. Bring a light jacket or cardigan just in case (they can look cute in photos, too!).

Let the Location Guide You

Soft florals and pastels are gorgeous in gardens, while dressier, structured pieces shine in city settings. We’ll chat through the feel of your session and location together, so everything feels cohesive.

Keep It Balanced

Make sure your outfits match in formality. If one of you is in a sundress and the other in a full suit, it can feel a little off. The goal is to complement one another, not out-dress each other!

Bonus Tips From Me to You

Doing your wedding hair or makeup trial? Schedule it the same day as your session. It’s a great way to test your look in photos!

At the end of the day, these photos are about your connection, your love, and telling your story. Pick outfits that feel like you, and I’ll take care of the rest. And if you're ever unsure? Just shoot me a message—helping you plan and feel amazing is my favorite part.
